FAQs of PTCCTV Standalone DVR

1. Why the DVR cannot start after connected to the power?
a. The adapter has been damaged. Pls change an adapter
b. The power of the adapter is not enough. Pls remove the HDD to check
c. The DVR hardware problem

2. I see nothing but a blue screen after I turn on DVR.
Check the camera output and video input connectors on DVR back panel. If you can't find problem with these   connections, check whether the camera power cable is firmly connected. Make sure the system format for NTSC and PAL is right.

3. Why the indicator of the DVR light, but no output?
a.The power of the adapter is not enough. Pls remove the HDD or change an adapter to try.
b.The video format of the DVR is different from that of the monitor
c.Connection problem. Pls check the cable and the interface.
d.The DVR hardware problem.

4. Why are no images displayed on parts or all of the channels of the DVR?
a. Connection problem. Pls check the cable and the interface.
b. Camera problem. Pls check the cameras.
c. The video format of the DVR is different from that of the cameras
d. DVR hardware problem.

5. Why do the DVR work fine, but I cannot control the DVR by the front panel or remote control?
a. inner connection problem. Pls open the case to check the cable and the connection
b. when it is in recording, playback mode, schedule mode, the majority of the buttons don't work.
c. For MPEG4 series, when they are in playback model, the majority of the buttons don't work.
d. DVR hardware problem

6. Why the used storage every hour is different at different period?
a. It is related with the setup. At different record frame rate, resolution and picture quality, it will have different bitrate. The lower the record frame rate, resolution and picture quality, the less the bitrate.
b. for the DVRs using MPEG4 and H.264 video compression, because MPEG4 and H.264 are a dynamic compress, the used storage is closely related with the picture movement. If the image is static, the used storage is most little. If the image is movable, the storage is large. That is, on different movable picture, maybe the gap of different used storage is most large.

7. What are the protocols supported by the DVR? Can they support IE?
a. MJPEG series support TCP/IP,  and only support client software
b. MPEG4 series support DHCP, PPPoE and DDNS. They support remote live surveillance by IE, but need client software for other functions

8. What is the OS supported?
Now the DVRs only support windows 2000 or above

9. Why cannot I access Time/Date Set, HDD Format Set, Record Set menu?
Please stop record or play before you access the menu.

10. Why cannot I access Network Set menu?
Please stop the connection of the PC View soft from Internet before you access Network Set menu

11. I push record button, but the DVR does not start recording, why?
a. No HDD detected, Push display or infor button to see if there is a hard disk detected
b. For MJPEG series, if DVR is in schedule mode (there is a 'S' on the screen in yellow), you cannot start recording by pushing record button. you have to push schedule button again to cancel schedule mode.
c. For MPEG4 series, DVR is in playback mode. Pls press STOP button to stop playing back

12. I push stop button, but the DVR does not stop recording, why?
a. For MJPEG series, If the DVR is recording in schedule mode (there is a ��S�� on screen), you cannot stop recording unless you quit schedule mode first. Push schedule button to cancel schedule mode.
b. For MPEG4 series, DVR is in playback mode. Pls press STOP button to stop playing back

13. There is a movement, but the DVR does not start recording.
a. Don't enable motion detection, or not set the sensitivity, the area, the working time for motion detection correctly.
b. The sensitivity is not enough. Pls set the motion level to HIGH or VERY HIGH
c. For MJPEG series, after finishing settings, need press Schedule button to have the DVR in schedule model(there is a 'S' on screen).
